As containing station code that is ANVT, this Railway Terminal of Anand Vihar is considered to be the largest one in the locality of the Anand Vihar in Delhi. The administrative department of Railway zone of North India managed this railway terminal. Chief Minister Sheila Dikhsit and Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee inaugurated this station on 19th December 2009 officially. This railway terminal is considered to be the largest one in northern railway and covered an area of about 42 hectares and managed to run all the trains bound to eastern side from Delhi just after the official opening of second phase.
This station of Anand Vihar provides lots of necessary facilities to the passenger just like waiting halls, for handicapped, separate areas for arrival and departure, toilets, booking counters, luggage office, parcel office, parking areas, reservation halls, cloak rooms, and accommodation service. This station is engaged with all moderanized facilities for all the passengers like counters of foreign exchange, ATMs, system of touch screen enquiry, food plazas, office of commercial maintenance, and computerized operated facility of ticketing etc. Residential room and retiring rooms are also available in the building of this station. There are facility of subways that are custom made for handicapped passenger, heritage gallery specially, 6 lifts, facility of separate parcel loading, and two escalators under this terminal. This station is considered to be the one station in all over the India which have separate yard for uploading and loading of parcels of food items and linen etc in order to keep all the platforms clean.
